Woods is the defending champion in the AT&T National. Dustin Johnson is in the field, playing again after is final-round U.S. Open meltdown. Should be interesting to see how Johnson responds to that. The field also includes Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, Hunter Mahan, Justin Rose, Vijay Singh and Y.E. Yang, among the top names. Most of the players at the top of the rankings are missing this year. Is that because of Woods' situation? Could it be that some players who would look forward to playing Congressional Country Club aren't in the field this year because the tournament has temporarily moved to Aronimink near Philadelphia? Maybe, but Aronimink has quite a pedigree of its own. Most of the European players opted to play the French Open this week, which is followed by the Scottish Open and then the British Open. Tiger himself heads across the Atlantic immediately following the conclusion of the AT&T National to play the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am in Ireland; and Phil Mickelson will play the Scottish Open next week.
